Everything leads to good
Ps 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
What is the purpose of man? God. Beatitude. To see God face to face. So how do we attain to God? Firstly, through grace. Grace perfects nature and allows man to have friendship with God. When we face pain and suffering, we can confidently unite it to Christ. Trusting that it will do us good for our sanctification. Not in feeling the pain, but accepting the pain as a gift. The only true loss is in being without God.
It seems much easier said than done, especially when we face adversity. How can we rest in the consolation that God’s plan is better than what we had hoped for when things seem miserable? Prayer and silence. Listening to God and accepting our current state as a way by which to grow in patience and humility. Do we know more than God? To have trustful surrender to God’s providence is a daily sacrifice, not something that happens overnight.
We may not know why things are the way they are right now, but we can rest assured that God has not abandoned us. “Thy will be done.” Surely His plans are better than what we could ever hope for. For now, let us live content in the state which God has placed us and hope for the eternal reward. Remain steadfast, accept the joys and sufferings, and trust that everything leads to good.
